South Africa’s leading steel pan players, most of them originally from the Caribbean Islands, has returned the steel pan to Africa in the last fifteen years. It’s unique sound once again finding its way into the hearts of a wide range of audiences. Performing mainly as an instrumental trio with bass and drums, although often also as duo with acoustic guitar, solo, or as part of an African trio, “Steel in da Sun” with vocals and rhythm tracks.
