Shebeen

The name shebeen comes from a surprisingly non-African source, Ireland. The original Gaelic word is séibín meaning an unlicensed drinking establishment but in both Ireland and Scotland the illicit nature of such an establishment was very much
its defining quality.
Originally, South African shebeens were operated
illegally, selling homebrewed alcohol and providing patrons with a gathering place where they could meet and discuss political and social issues.
The look and feel of this theme gives the sense of being in a local street corner shebeen, including props, stage sets and backdrops. Ensuring a casual atmosphere and a truly authentic African style vibe.

Watch the different cultural performances, marimba bands, gumboot and pantsula dancers, participate in a Sangoma reading ceremony, learn to play an African drum and do the kwasa kwasa dance
to Local South African songs played by the DJ.
